I think this is a good little hot dog dive that anyone can enjoy! Owner is the brother of the owner of Mil. Wiener house. Very underrated hot dog shoppe

In my opinion, George's Hot Dog Shop is the best hot dog shop in Sioux City. To be sure, the prices and chili recipe are similar to the other hot dog competitors, but the overall experience and service is second to none. George and his wife always treat me like family. They also offer other items such as gyros and bean soup. Parking is never an issue. I recommend this hot dog shop over any others.

I like George's. There isn't anything super special about the place, but the dogs have been good all the times I have been there. They are the traditional coney style dogs that you can get from the "Greek" hot dog places.

This is a step back into the 60's! Decor, signage, staff, everything! The "chili" was just greasy loose meat, no spices, no real sauce that would make it chili. No matter what you order, the same six condiments are available for everything, so ignore the menu. On one hand, it's "have it your way". On the other hand, maybe you don't want it at all!

George's was founded by George, a protege of the original owners of Milwaukee Weiner House, and it shows - the decor is similar and the recipe is similar. George's also offers fantastic gyros made by George's wife. She makes the sauce herself, and it is incredible. I usually go very hungry so I can have a hotdog or two AND a gyro, though I usually have to take a nap afterwards. George and his wife are very friendly and make excellent food. Give them a try!

It was not terrible but with a couple other fine establishments in town it is a tough sell. The people here are so nice and warm though, even if the food was not the best they make you feel happy eating it.

Dreary, greasy, and confusing are all adjectives you don't want associated with your restaurant. Unfortunately, George's Hot Dog Shop summons these parts of speech the moment you walk into the restaurant. Having lunch here with a friend one snowy day, the counter was manned by George, (or at least I thought he was George, since a younger looking version of him was hanging framed on the wall) who was assisted by a confused older woman who he barked orders at throughout our lunch. I had the chili dog and some chips along with a Coca-cola. The dog was warm, not hot and the chili was basically ground beef and grease. In fact, the grease from the chili was so bad that I had to use 3 napkins to wrap around the chili dog while I ate it. The decor here is somewhat like Milwaukee Weiner House, but decidedly lower rent. Dark green walls come to mind when I recall my experience here, and George's portrait hanging on the wall. Nostalgia from my childhood aside, I don't really want to remember this experience.
